Locking the search to a particular plugin speeds things up further but rather rubbishes the 'one plug searches all' concept.Īll Komplete's sounds are accurately categorised and everything makes so much more sense than NI's R.I.P. It's simple, easy to understand and pretty fast, given that tapping through sounds requires your computer to load up each plug and sound to let you hear it. It's a standalone or plugin (appearing in your NI folder in your DAW's drop-down) and it works great. You can search for 'pad sounds' (for example) via search criteria and pull up a list of options regardless of the plug that makes them. And finally there's the Kontrol S keyboards, a new set of controllers specifically designed to work with Komplete Kontrol and which come in 25, 49 or 61 key forms. Next is Komplete Kontrol, a free bit of software for Komplete 9 or 10 owners that sits in front of the individual plugins and gives a simple unified interface. Firstly there's Komplete, NI's popular super-suite of software that in version 10 feels more unified and consistent than ever. This time their 'super synth' is a game of three parts and each makes a lot of sense. "All Komplete's sounds are accurately categorised and everything makes so much more sense than NI's R.I.P. Rather than walk away from the 'koncept' NI is back with another stab. What does it matter if the sound comes from Absynth or Massive anyway? And if you do want to specify a specific synth you can. Instead of searching through each plugin for a specific sound you can browse all your 'bass' tones at once. So it's admirable that NI has remained attached to this 'one software to rule them all' ideal because - at its 'kore' - it's a good idea. Outside of that, the only controller I have extensive experience with is Push 2 with Ableton and, well, that pairing just in a league of its own for obvious reasons. We always quite liked NI's Kore and gave it the benefit of the doubt on the strict understanding that a) It often 'got in the way' when you wanted to do proper tweaks b) It never really made good on its promises. Just thought I’d share my two cents on that specific item. I spoke to a rep at Nektar and they confirmed that Nektarine will be made to P-series owners in the future. However, with the new Nektarine software that was introduced with the T-series, this is now possible. plist and the pages are a generic 1, 2, 3, etc. The parameter names will just default to whatever they are on the. Not being able to name parameters and pages for custom maps. I also don’t like to finger drum, so it’s not much of an issue.Ģ. Again, I’ve heard the T-series is a huge improvement. The only two honest disappoints I have are:ġ. I’ve heard the keybed on the new T series has improved upon previous offerings. I think the action is pretty good for a MIDI controller, but will admit that the keys are a little loud (doesn’t bother me much, though). That includes the built in Logic synths and FX.ĭiffering opinion, but I have had a P4 for a little over a year now and have no major gripes with it. However, at least on my MKI, I can use MIDI mode on the physical unit itself, and through the Controller Editor software, I can control anything in Logic that respnds to a CC number. All the bells and whistles are through the Komplete Kontrol porgram itself, which is used as a plug in within he host. BUT, if you are on a Mac you are out of luck, as the software is only PC compatible.Īnd yes, I forgot to mention that, Komplete Kontrol, even with deep integration for transport, is all about NI and the companies that use the NKS standard. The XTouch Compact can be programmed with CC numbers. YMMV.Ī note about the XTouch: The XTouch Universal is a MCU controller, its all it does. I don't know about the state of the drivers now, but I had heard the keybed quality has gone up. I also found that the integration was awfully fiddly, and I often found myself having to reinstall the drivers and deleting the cs.plist enough that after about 2 years, I had to get rid of it. The Panorama series also have integration with certain DAWs, it's not universal. A word about the Nektar: I had a Panorama 4, and the keybed was so bad it was almost unusable.
